How Much to Tip in Las Vegas – Tip Etiquette and Guidelines

The service industry workers in Las Vegas depend largely on tips as income. Regular wages for these workers are very low and hardly enough to survive on. But, tipping in Las Vegas is not mandatory or automatic. Instead, a tip is a reward for good service.

The question is who should be tipped and how much. The following tip guideline is a short list of the most common circumstances where a gratuity is considered polite. Demonstrating proper tipping etiquette to these hard working folks in Las Vegas is always appreciated.

Tip Guidelines, Tip Etiquette, Gratuity or Tip Amount Suggested:

Taxi Cab Driver & Limo Driver Tipping – Tip 10 to 20 percent of fare.

Housekeeper or Hotel Room Maid Tipping – Tip $1 to $5 per day – more for special requests.

Car Parking or Valet Service Tipping – Tip $1 to $3 when your car is returned to you (not parked).

Cocktail Server or Bartender Tipping – Tip at least $1 per free drink.

Restaurant, Bar Servers or Wait Staff Tipping – Tip 15 to 20 percent of total bill.

Wine Steward or Sommelier Tipping – Tip 10 to 20 percent of wine bill (not food bill-if it is a combined bill).

Spa or Salon Tipping – Tip 10 to 20 percent of bill (before tax).

Casino Dealer Tipping – Tip the amount of your typical bet (at least every hour of play) or 10% of winnings.

Bell Attendants & Skycap Tipping – Tip $1 to $2 per bag

Shoe Shine Tipping – Tip $2 per pair

Tour Guides & Charters Tipping – Tip 10 to 20 percent of cost (if not included in bill already).

Concierge Tipping – Usually tip $2 to $25 depending on the complexity of the service provided. Tip for each service or at the end of service period in one sum. Tip Examples: $3 up to $10 for dinner reservations, $20 for booking a tour, $25 for getting tickets to a sold out show for example.

Golf Tipping: Bag Drop Attendants $1-$3 per bag, Starter – no tip, Cart Return $1-$2 per person, Caddies 20-50% of caddie fee, Beverage Cart $1 per purchase, Caddies $10 -$25 above caddie fee, Golf Cart Driver $2-$3 per person, Club Cleaning $5 per person, Lessons – no tip.
